Self-Contained Special Education Teacher, Grades K-4 - Patricia A. Duran School

2020-21 Anticipated Opening

The Hermon School Department is seeking a K-4 Self-Contained Special Education Teacher who meets the following:
Appropriate teaching certification required (282 Teacher of Students with Disabilities).
Maine Criminal History Records Check.
Experience teaching students with emotional disabilities, autism, and intellectual disabilities preferred.

  • Ability to case manage up to but no more than 11 students.
  • Ability to complete all required special education paperwork (Written Notices, Individual Education Plans) and meet required timelines.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, related service providers, and regular education teachers.
  • Ability to create and implement academic and functional skills programming for students with cognitive, emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Collect, and report on academic, functional and behavioral data.
  • Ability to follow Positive Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Ability to supervise and collaborate with assigned educational technicians.

Candidates must possess or be eligible for Maine Department of Education Teacher certification (endorsement 620 Art (K-12) or 020 General Elementary Endorsement (K-8) with ability to be certified) and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification. Teacher will be responsible for teaching quarterly electives to grades 5-7 and single 8th grade semester course.

Hermon High School is seeking a motivated teacher to join our faculty. This position is full time and will begin at the start of the 2020-2021 School Year. Teaching assignments may include ninth grade Health and Science courses. Strong life and physical science experience a plus.

The successful candidate will join a department of collaborative educators who demonstrate positive, professional, and productive relationships with their students, colleagues, and greater school community. A strong understanding of proficiency referenced planning, the ability to differentiate instruction and the integration of technology is a plus.

English Teacher - Hermon High School

Hermon High School is seeking a dynamic high school English teacher to join our humanities department. This position is full time and will begin at the start of the 2020-2021 School Year. Teaching assignments may include ninth through twelfth grade courses. Advanced Placement and Early College experience a plus.

The successful candidate will join a department of six collaborative educators who demonstrate positive, professional, and productive relationships with their students, colleagues, and greater school community. A strong understanding of proficiency referenced planning, the ability to differentiate instruction and provide meaningful and timely formative feedback is a plus.

Maine Department of Education 100 English/Language Arts (7-12) endorsement and Maine Criminal History Records Check required.

The Hermon School Department is seeking Food Services Substitutes for the 2019-2020 school year who can work positively with staff, and students. Candidates should possess basic math skills, be able to lift up to 20 pounds, and stand on feet during the shift.
Candidates must hold current CHRC authorization through State of Maine Department of Education.
This is a substitute position and does not provide benefits.
